Application Now Open for High School Juniors!
Subiendo is an intensive five day leadership academy created at The University of Texas at Austin to prepare the next generation of leaders to address critical issues facing Texas.
June 14 - 18, 2015
Students move away from the traditional classroom experience by participating in role-playing exercises centered around policy issues important to the future of Texas; interacting one-on-one with business, political, and community leaders; and developing skills to take their ideas and turn them into reality. Students stay in a college dormitory with college leaders who not only guide the students throughout the week, but also mentor the students during the college application process.
Free for students. Travel scholarships available.
Current high school juniors, who will be seniors in the fall of 2015, should apply. Subiendo is a competitive program and open to all students in Texas. Students who are potentially first generation college students, or who have overcome adversity, are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications are evaluated on such factors as academic achievement, community involvement and leadership, essay questions, and a teacher recommendation.
