The Powdermaker Family Foundation

The Powdermaker Family Foundation, founded in 2007 by Alan Powdermaker and his children, is a private, non-profit foundation established primarily for educational and charitable purposes. It is our primary objective to assist in the advancement of higher education for qualified graduating high school students through scholarship allocations.

Scholarships

Scholarships will be made in the amount of $2,000 per academic school year, provided that the award does not exceed 50% of the estimated cost of tuition, books and fees. Scholarship awardees must maintain certain academic criteria and will be subject to review throughout the school year in order to retain their scholarship. Scholarship awards are granted on a two or four year basis. However, scholarship awardees must meet all of the requirements, as stated by the Powdermaker Foundation, and be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning in order to qualify for scholarship renewal. Transcripts and other new information will be reviewed by the Selection Committee.

Who May Apply For A Scholarship

All scholarship applicants must be graduating students at approved and participating Dallas County high schools with a GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale); a proven record of community, school, and extracurricular activities; demonstrated leadership potential; demonstrated financial need; and a citizen or documented permanent resident of the United States. Scholarship applicants must plan to attend full-time at an approved college or vocational school.

The Application Process.

Each applicant must submit a completed application and fulfill the criteria as outlined on the Application Form. The deadline for submitting your application is April 1 for Summer & Fall enrollment. Qualifying applicants will be interviewed by the Selection Committee, who will provide recommendations to the Board of Directors.
